Insurance Quick Tip: Did you know? Many professions qualify for significant discounts for auto, home, and other kinds of insurance. As many people head back to school, this is the time to reach out to any teachers whom you may know and let them know that teacher discounts can apply.

New Family Favorite Recipe:
Grilled Tomato Bruschetta. Oh, yum!

4 small tomatoes, cut into 1/2 –inch-thick slices
4 cloves garlic, divided
1 tsp dried thyme
3 Tbsp. olive oil, divided, plus more for drizzling
1 loaf French bread, cut into 12 slices
1 6-oz ball fresh mozzarella, drained and cut into 12 slices.
10 leaves fresh basil, thinly sliced.

1. Preheat grill over medium heat. Mince two cloves garlic. Combine minced garlic with thyme; set aside. Lightly brush both sides of tomato slices with 1 Tbsp. olive oil.
2. Rub grate with vegetable oil. Place tomatoes on grill and cook three to five minutes. Turn tomatoes over, sprinkle with garlic and thyme mixture, and season with salt and pepper. Grill three to five minutes more.
3. Meanwhile, brush both sides of each bread slice with remaining olive oil. Grill one to two minutes per slide. Rub remaining whole garlic cloves over one side of each piece of grilled bread.
4. Place a grilled tomato slide on each garlic side of bread and top with cheese and basil. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper if desired.

Kids Tips
Katherine and Gabriana’s Book Pick:
The Frog Princess, by E. D. Baker. (224 pages). Gabriana (two) is a little young for this one, but Katherine (age “four and one quarter”) loved it – once we started, we had a hard time putting it down. It takes the frog prince story in an unexpected direction with multi-dimensional characters who defy typical fairy tale stereotypes. When Princess Emma kisses a frog in the swamp, a “reverse charm” turns her into a frog herself and together they fight to survive while trying to reverse the spell. While reading it, we found ourselves thinking about what it would be like to be a frog. We also developed an attachment to the main characters in the story, who bicker their way into an affectionate relationship, taking turns saving each other from the perils of their adventure.

Word of the Day: Ontology: The branch of metaphysics dealing with the nature of being or reality.
