Italy: Bulding Vesuvius

When I was in elementary school, one of the other classes built a volcano. We got to gather to watch it erupt and I always wanted to do it myself. (I think my kids are the same. They'd rather participate than be in the audience. Overall, I think that's a good thing, though supporting friends is also appropriate.)

Our "trip" to Italy this month was a chance, especially when K choose Pompeii and the eruption of Vesuvius as her topic. We built it with friends, but now it has to dry and we'll try the eruption process later in the week when the same friends return for another activity/event. Also on the Italy agenda: pasta making, stained glass, and painting upside-down, like Michelangelo when he did the Sistine Chapel!
