First Reconciliation Service

The altar was artistically decorated with a desert theme - driftwood, sand, cacti. It also had pots full of unlit candles. When the children each finished his or her reconciliation, they approached the altar with their parents and lit a candle. The symbolism of the lit candles in the midst of the Lenten desert was so hopeful and demonstrative of God's love that I found myself blinking back tears throughout the service.

On the left, below: her sister is so super proud of her today! As are we. On the right, celebrating with G's godmother, our wonderful friend Kathleen. Her presence today made a special celebration especially bright and memorable for all of us. Thank you, Kathleen!
