Goat Farm Tour

We took the lovely drive to Pescadero, meet our wonderful friends Denise, John, and Anna, and toured a goat farm. I think that the girls would say that they liked the baby goats best - and they were very cute! - but I found the owner's philosophy about "happy goats" most fascinating. Our guide spoke at length about the theory that happy goats give better milk, but I took that with a grain of salt until we actually went into the pasture with the animals. I was amazed to see that they were so affectionate, rubbing up against us and following us around calmly. It was a tangible difference from other times when I have been amongst goats, i.e. petting zoos.

We got to sample the goat cheese after seeing how it is made and it was delicious - and I'm no big fan of goat cheese, generally. The girls are pictured below decorating some with edible flowers, with hair nets required because we were in the kitchen where it is made. A lovely outing, made more delightful because it was near the beach and much cooler than even slightly inland. Thanks, Denise, for the suggestion and the gift of your time and friendship!
