California History: Groveland Museum

We got to see a sluice used for panning gold as well as a circular stone mechanism (I forget the name!) used for grinding gold out of rocks.  The outdoor rock exhibit was perhaps most interesting, with local rocks from the Sierras, including shiny black obsidian, cinnabar, serpentine (the CA state rock), granite, quartz, iron pyrite, and more.
