Visiting with Hanna. The house was built - well, the tour guide never did say when - but it was build around the same time as our house by the widow of the guy who invented the Winchester rifle. According to the guide, she was 'haunted' by the ghosts of all of those who died because of that rifle and that the told her to move to San Jose and never stop building - the sound of construction would keep the ghosts at bay. The story gave the house a sad feeling. The house itself had bizarre construction with much wasted space and with doors and staircases to nowhere. Interesting, but sad. Beautiful gardens, though, and nice to spend time with mom and Hanna.
