STEM Escape Room
The girls and their cousins did an "escape room" where they had to solve STEM related problems to build a recipe. Their team achieved the fastest time of any team this month! They said that the questions weren't actually much STEM related, but they had a great time.
Me, too! As soon as we arrived, H.took one look at me and said, "TT, playground!" (Aunt T, let's go to the playground!) and so while the big kids "escaped," H led me to the playground and we had a great time together. K saw his enthusiasm for me and said, with surprise, "wow, you are the fun aunt. Who knew?" Indeed! Boring mom to some; awesome fun aunt to others. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Since his older siblings clearly think of me as no more than K and G's transportation source, it's nice to get some appreciation. :-)

SF Shakespeare's As You Like It
Oh my gosh, this was SO GOOD! I was reluctant to go - tired and with some work projects pressing - but I could tell that the girls really wanted to go, so I packed us up and we went.
SO glad we did! I'm usually not a huge fan of the comedies, but this was a MUSICAL version. The music was great, the lyrics were fabulous, and the singing was fantastic! One of K's former teachers, Regina Morones, absolutely stole the show as Rosalind/Ganymede. She was hysterically funny even when she wasn't speaking, her singing voice is fabulous, and she carried the woman-pretending-to-be-a-man thing awesomely. Another of the girls' former teachers, Maryssa Wanlass was also wonderful as Jaques, the melancholy forest dude. The actor who played both Charles-the-wrestler and Phebe was so good that we didn't realize until afterward that the same person played both roles. I laughed so much!
We want to go again, already. I'd buy the CD if they were selling it somewhere! (Another of the girls' teachers composed some of the songs. Sometimes I feel so blessed that the girls have been able to work with such talented people!) The girls kept saying all the way home, "they should be on Broadway!" Agreed!
We read through some of the reviews and agreed with only the laudatory comments. The SFGate critic saw awkwardness with the songs - must have been in earlier versions, as we saw nothing awkward about any part of the production.
