Yosemite Trip! First Hike and Happy Halloween

Just a quick trip up to Mirror Lake before it got dark...

Our one and only Trick or Treater.  And what a cute one!

Hayward Regional Shoreline Walk

I'd always driven by and wanted to stop; finally we made plans to do so and ended up doing a six mile walk, which was interesting, beautiful, and fun.  (We were originally going to go camping this day, but the campground was closed due to storm damage from the week before.  It was lovely to have a day off to hike!

Mediterranean Saltwort.  The flowers were tiny, almost unnoticeable... but gorgeous once seen

Great Egret

A Snowy Egret... actually from another walk (but it fit the theme)

Halloween House/Halloween Dog

Puck is more of an unwitting partner in this Halloween theme.  Ha!  The decor is a joint effort with our neighbors and pretty awesome, we think!  :-)

This committed pair sing... which is actually quite creepy late at night when no one else is around!

Get.  It.  Off!

We call him "Dwight" and he leans off the porch when the weather is good.  He is particularly inclined to scare Dodger fans.

It's a messy combination of different things, but we love it!

African American Shakespeare's "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare"

We've never seen a production from African American Shakespeare that wasn't high quality and this one was so well done that it had us laughing out loud.  The location, at Jack London Square, was great too and it was wonderful that Mom could join us.  Now, if only there were more vegetarian options at the restaurants around there... I have never seen so many places with zero veggie options.

Backyard Photography Experimentation

Mom and I were experimenting in her backyard with photos.  Most of the photos I put on Instagram, but this one seemed to have such a look of shock on its face that it seemed special.  And cute.

Walking Tour

Another super fun walking tour, this time about six miles with K, L, Hanna, and Seth.  Len came too, for the first few miles!  We started in North Beach, wandered through the non-touristy streets of Chinatown, waited a long time for excellent dim sum, saw a troupe of lion dancers practicing, went through the Financial District, got chocolate at the Ferry Building, braved the steps up to Coit Tower, and got more of a stair workout up the Greenwich pathway, walked down Lombard, found excellent truffles at XOX Truffles, and then ended up back at North Beach.  Great afternoon, great to spend time with everyone.

Headed down Lombard

At one of the murals inside Coit Tower

K and I, Golden Gate Bridge in background

A little winded from the stairs up to Coit Tower; Bay Bridge in rear

Super cool US Flag art made from flowers (and a super awesome kid in front of it)

Chinatown and a search for boba tea (not for me; yuck!)

Baseball

Our awesome neighbors projected the game so that we could watch it on a "big screen," first on the side of the garage, when it was windy one night, then on the side of the house when it was warmer.  We sat in lawn chairs and had blankets.... and had our hearts broken, but with appreciation for the generosity and ingenuity of our neighbors.

Gualala

A very quick trip (26 hours, including 7 hours of driving) to see Uncle Mike and Aunt Terry.  Totally worth it; love seeing them and we had a beautiful drive, too.

Fall Garden

As usual, I have limited success with my gardening, but peppers this year were new, exciting and successful... both these bell peppers and my jalapeno plants.  Used them both in a black bean soup I made today!
